Songs of the Anonymous Lover

When Stephanie Pan asked me to write some songs for her, I thought that it would be a great idea to compose music using old text due to her interest in both early and contemporary music. Having a great interest in the music of Guilluame de Machaut and other Ars Nova composers, I was very interested in “tipping my hat”, as it were, to this musical style though the use of texts from 14th century. I used texts by anonymous authors because anonymity seems to support the themes of unrequited love found in these and many other poems of the period.
