Images

Images is the result of a collaboration with Arn Strasser in the summer of 2003. Attracted to the colorful and abstract characteristics of his works, I wrote Images as an expression of this aesthetic. The piece is divided into two complimentary movements of darkness and light. Similar to the concept of Yin and Yang, each movement contains elements and characteristics of the other to stress their interdependence. The overall narrative of this work is the continual movement from darkness to light, night to day, or despair to hope. The titles “Shadow” and “Lumen” are Lowcountry place-names that seem to evoke the mood of each movement.
